Ibrahim Pasha of the Milan

Ibrahim Pasha of the Milan
(?-c. 1908)
Ibrahim Pasha (not to be confused with the famous Egyptian general of the same name who threatened the Ottoman Empire earlier in the 19th century) became chief of the Milan confederation in 1863 and quickly rebuilt it into a formidable force in what is now southeastern Turkey. His loyalty to the sultan led to his being appointed as a Hamidiye commander.
When the Young Turks overthrew the sultan in July 1908, Ibrahim Pasha revolted and was defeated. Soon afterwards, he died. Turkish and other authors spread his fame as the uncrowned king of Kurdistan. His son Mahmud was also influential.
